Monday June 3–Day 11 Trying out Makeup

Wow this makeup job was pretty bad. Or at least close up.  I was going out, tired of putting a bandaid on my nose and trying to keep it from sweating off so I decided to try out putting some makeup on my nose to hide the scar and to put some sunscreen on it. Note to self bandaids on my face and over 100 degree weather to not mix to well.

My nostrils look a little better than they did the first few days.

Tuesday May 28–Day 5

Here is what my nose looked like after the stitches were removed. Sorry crappy pictures from my phone.  When I went back to get my stitches out the nurse came in and told me I was right it was a basal cell and that I should have been a dermatologist.  I laughed.

Monday May 27th–Day 4

Here is what it looked like on day 4.  I get my stitches out tomorrow.  Most of the stitched are internal.  My doctor likes to get the ones on the outside about day 5 so when it heals you do not see the stitch marks.

Another basal cell on my nose

About 1 1/2 years ago I started getting a spot on my most that would not heal to well and kept bleeding then would scab over and heal a little then do it all over again.  I knew it was a basal cell my dermatologist could not see it was.  I finally decided to go and see my plastic surgeon he did not know if it was or not but did not want to biopsy it and if it was a basal cell then have to take it out.  The doctor said it would leave scar tissue that would need to be removed too so the area that needed to be removed would be larger.  One less shot and cutting on my nose it was not hard a hard decision. I had to wait 3 more months to get in to have it done since I was supposed to have a cyst on my stomach removed at the same time but that did not happen since it got infected again 2 weeks before so they scheduled me for 3 more months to have that removed.

I kept telling my husband that I need to get a before picture of my nose and guess what?  As we were leaving still no picture so he took this before picture with my phone (not the greatest but you can see the spot).

Right after on my way home.  Still numb.

Few hours after.

The whole process took about 1 hour and I was on my way home.  Dr. Rowley could not remove the cyst on my stomach but did remove a new one on my back so both were done and over with in an hour.

I was shocked when I saw it.  When I went in for my consult Dr. Rowley said he thought he would have to take some skin from the top of my nose and graph it around but he did not have to do this and am so glad.  It looked a lot better than I expected it to but was really worried about my funny looking nostrils.

1 1/2 Years After Surgery

Here are some pictures of my nose 1 1/2 years after surgery.  My husband took them on September 16th  but I have not had time to get them put on here.  I was told that my nose would not change much after a year but I think it really has changed.  Most people I tell said they would never had guessed I had nose surgery.  I am happy with the results but I still do not like my nostrils lol.

1 Year Later

I can not believe it has been one year since I had my nose surgery. I am pretty happy with it so far but am still not liking the nostrils at least it is not noticeable when I am talking to someone and makeup does a great job for the rest of it.

Almost 7 Months After Surgery

Sorry, I have been bad at getting these monthly pictures posted. My husband actually took 6 month photos and they were all blurry so I did not post them. My daughter has offered to take them but I do not think I trust a 5 year old with our nice camera. She is so cute she always tells me that my nose looks good and will say "Oh mommy I can not tell you had nose surgery on it one bit." I know it looks so much better than the first few days and after putting makeup on when I tell people they can not tell I had anything done to it. About a month ago I had to go back to my doctors (another 3 inch scar on my back waaaa getting old sucks, no skin cancer a cyst that ruptured and turned into a bad secondary infection) he had not seen my nose since a week after surgery he kept looking at it and was amazed it looked so good. He told me give it a year and it will look normal.

3 months & 1 week after Surgery

I can tell my nose is healing up looking at the last pictures taken. Last Monday a day before my 3 month mark I pulled out a stitch about 1/2 the size of an eye lash under my nose. I could tell something was there and it was dark. My husband told me to get something and see if it would come out so I used a little safety pin and popped right out. It was trying to heal around this area and now I know why it was still kind of buckled there.

9 1/2 Weeks After Surgery

I can really tell by the previous pictures it is looking beter each week. It is hard to tell when you see your nose everyday. I am still not liking my nostrils. I thought it was getting better but it's not.

6 Weeks After Surgery

These were taken on April 28th but I never got around to posting them.

Four Weeks After Surgery

I can really tell that my nose is starting to fill back in now. It still does not look to good and I am still wearing a bandaid over it when I go out of the house. Here are the pictures of my nose today 4 weeks later.

Three Weeks After Surgery

I am not sure how I am feeling about this three weeks out. I still have to wear a bandaid when I go out of the house since I can not hide it with makeup yet. I tried last week. What a mess and it was so hard to clean out of the grooves. Maybe in a few more weeks I will be able to cover it up. I mainly get comments from kids asking their parents why I have a bandaid on my nose.

Two Weeks After Surgery - Day 15

My surgery was two weeks ago today so I thought I should share some new pictures. My husband says my nose is looking better everyday. I will start posting weekly pictures of my nose for now and then monthly pictures once it gets better. I am still hoping it will change a lot I do not like that one of my nostrils is larger than the other hopefully it will change. I know Dr. Rowley said it will really change in the next few months so I am hoping for it to look even better.

Ninth Day After Surgery

I got all of my stitches out today. Saturday evening I started feeling better by Sunday I was feeling a lot better but thought I was all better and kind over did it so I had to lay down for the rest of the day and take it easy. This week I have been out and about. It is so nice to feel better I am not very good at being sick. I think Dr Rowley was impressed with how well my nose has healed. He said it will change a lot in the next few weeks/months.

So yesterday when I took my daughter to her dance class I put a large bandaid over the bridge of my nose and a smaller one from the bottom middle up over the bridge so no one would see this and gross out. After I got my sititches out today I just put one over the bridge of my nose and went into Frys Electronics with my daughter and kind of kept my head down. This will be so nice not to have to wear anything on my nose when I go out but I will keep something on there until I can put make up on there so people will not stare at me.
